Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan Endorses Joe Biden for President

Duncan, a Republican, says Trump 'has shown us who he is'

Duncan is the latest in a growing number of Republicans to endorse Biden

Former Georgia Republican Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan on Monday said he will vote for President Joe Biden in November, arguing that former President Donald Trump "has shown us who he is" and is unfit for office.

"I will be voting for Joe Biden for President of the United States," Duncan wrote in a lengthy Twitter thread. "I do not make this decision lightly, but I believe it is the right one for our country."

Duncan, who served as Georgia's lieutenant governor from 2019 to 2023, is the latest in a growing number of Republicans to endorse Biden.

"I believe that Joe Biden is a good man who loves our country and will work tirelessly to unite us," Duncan wrote. "He has the experience, the temperament, and the values to lead our nation through these challenging times."

Duncan's endorsement is a significant blow to Trump, who has been struggling to gain traction with moderate and independent voters. It also comes as Trump faces increasing legal scrutiny, including a criminal investigation into his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

In his Twitter thread, Duncan said that he had "great respect" for Trump's accomplishments as president, but that he could no longer support him.

"I cannot in good conscience support a man who has shown us who he is," Duncan wrote. "He is a danger to our democracy and to our country."

Duncan's endorsement of Biden is a reminder that the Republican Party is deeply divided over Trump. While some Republicans continue to support the former president, others are increasingly concerned about his behavior and his fitness for office.
